My suggestions for IPs for TW adaptation are Warmachine (TT wargame), Exalted (RPG setting), the Wheel of Time (novels series) and The Malazan Book of the Fallen (novels series).

If you wish to pursue these concepts (or indeed TW: Game of Thrones, which also crops up a lot), please put forwards a more detailed description of how you think it could be adapted. If someone redid Dawn of war with more units, more modern units and without the crap that dawn of war 2 and 3 became it could be a lot of fun but again I don't think it would work great with total war type of game. Wheel of times is another series I have to try reading again, for a long time just had a hard time getting the next book and stopped. If they made the units a little more different between the factions it could go a long way and be a lot of fun with an end times kinda of event later own and a lot of what ifs to the story. Lore not history as the ROT3K is more of a historical fan fiction than history. 3K was fun at 1st but got VERY repetitive despite the fact I love the lore behind it all. I would love to see a Song of ice and fire version but I fear it would become too much like 3K which was very meh. Warcraft may be cool but I highly doubt it will be given to CA as they Blizzard who could just make an RTS title again with that IP. LOTR would be fun I think, GW has done some work with that on the table top on how to make more units and lore to make the battles interesting enough.
